John Mark Burton

John Mark is a 1984 graduate of Cardinal High School in Middlefield, Ohio. At Cardinal he was in band, choir, Cardinaires Swing Choir, and was in a number of musicals. Following high school he attended Hiram College and graduated with a double degree in Music Education and Performance. Though his main focus after college was to be business oriented, he has teaching experience in both vocal and instrumental music, and has also taught many private students over the years. With a performance major in trumpet and euphonium, and minors in trombone and tuba, he has studied under Dr. Robert Fleming, Mr. John Krauss, Mr. Randall Fusco, and Mr. John Olson.

As a buyer, and salesman for a large music store for almost four years, John Mark has the experience to negotiate good bargains, and can pass these savings on to his customers. His experiences there also included a weekly sales route, providing support for Warren City Schools and other schools in Trumbull and Portage Counties.

For the past 12 years John Mark has worked in Middlefield at Farmers Welding Supply, Inc., an established company started by his parents in 1981. Being Vice-President of this corporation he learned the ins and outs of small business. Here the jobs varied from sales, buying, repairs and maintenance, shipping and receiving, to being in charge of computer maintenance, compliance with DOT, EPA, FDA, OSHA, hazmat regulations, and more.

Besides soloing with the Hiram College Concert Band a number of times, he was also a member of Hiram Jazz Ensemble. He was a member of the Don Burns Orchestra for four years, and played with the Bernie Regazzo Orchestra, and other small groups over the years as well. He is a self-taught guitar player, and enjoys all types of music.  He currently plays trumpet with "Sophisticated Swing", a 18 piece big band from Middlefield, Ohio.  He also plays guitar with the Middlefield First United Methodist Praise Team.

John Mark has been active in the Middlefield community coaching little league baseball for over 10 years.  He is active with his church and helping with the Youth in the area.
